What About My WHY

I am thinking about my WHY today. Whether you started your business three months or three years ago, it is a good idea to periodically review, redefine, and embrace your WHY.

People everywhere are talking about knowing your WHY; the reason you are in business. Knowing your WHY is essential for creating business success. Being able to express your WHY, who you are, what you do, and why you do it, clearly and succinctly, helps potential clients determine whether you are a good fit for their business.

What Does It Mean to Define Your WHY

If you haven’t clearly defined your WHY, you could start with an inventory of your character qualities: compassionate, trustworthy, honest, responsible, etc. Next, create a list of experiences where you felt strong, confident, appreciated, fulfilled, etc. Then, think about your client, what you do for them and how it feels when you help them reach a milestone or achieve a goal. Lastly, ask yourself why you created your business in the first place.

Your WHY could be something like:

I coach female entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses by helping them define their unique value proposition. I struggled to define my unique value proposition and when I did, my business increased by ___%. I want other female entrepreneurs to feel that what they have to offer is valuable and realize that they can achieve the success they desire.

Your WHY Is So Much More

You get the idea. There is so much more to this topic, stay tuned as we continue this conversation in my next blog post. In the meantime, let me leave you with three questions to ponder:

When someone visits your website About page, do they get an idea of who you are and why you are in business?

Can you clearly express the unique abilities you bring to the table?

Is the work that you do in alignment with your WHY?

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog page. Do you have insights, experiences to share around discovering your WHY? Feel free to leave a comment below.

All the Best,

Patricia
