What About My WHY-Part 3

Think about business as a journey. The excitement draws you in. Your determination keeps you on the path to success. Along the way, reality presents you with a few side trips that you didn’t exactly expect. Today, let’s focus on motivation.

What Motivates You?

Perhaps, your WHY, as mine did, stems from a need to be productive and contribute to your household finances. I have had a chance over the last quarter to consider my WHY statement. I learned two important things about what motivates me to succeed as a virtual assistant:

  • I have something to prove to myself.
  • I operate with a servant’s heart and a desire to be a change agent.

This realization started me on a path of discovery

Your WHY is Not Static

It is an excellent idea to periodically review your WHY statement. Think about what motivates you to show up every day to work. Consider the idea that as your business grows, your WHY can change. Spend some time thinking about your business and ask yourself these questions:

  • What have you learned over the past year?
  • In what ways has your business changed?
  • How does your WHY statement align with your vision and goals?

You may need to revise your WHY statement to fit the changes you identified during your time of reflection.

So, What is My WHY?

You are probably wondering about my WHY statement. After all, I have spent the last three blog posts on the topic. The good news is that by writing this blog series, I discovered my WHY. While writing this blog series, I realized that my old WHY statement doesn’t fit anymore. I have changed. My business has changed. My new WHY turns out to be a little different than the first.

Why Do I Do What I Do?

I have spent far too long being afraid to put myself first. As I reflected on my WHY statement I discovered that I felt unworthy of success. My worth depended on what others thought, said, or did. Not on what was important to me. It was a real eye-opener.

My goal is to help entrepreneurs avoid the all-too-common roadblocks to success. Those mental/emotional roadblocks can interfere with their ability to create a successful business. I encourage them to reach for the success, freedom, and pure joy they desire. I can help them see that they are limitless and that they deserve to have abundance.

I hope that this series has you thinking about your WHY. I would love to hear your thoughts and your WHYs. Leave a comment below and join the conversation.
